Villanova Magazine - Winter 2004 Edition
  Greeks get good grades
Christopher W. Alexander

Greek Life at Villanova has designated each month of the fall semester with a different theme regarding Greeks and Greek events on and off campus. October was given the theme, “Greeks Get Good Grades” in reference to the fact that scholastically the Greek Life organization achieves outstanding and exemplary academic marks. This is traditionally, and unfortunately, not widely known outside the Greek Life family, but that is rapidly changing with promotions such as these to let the public (students, faculty and the administration alike) know about the tremendous job Greeks do academically as a whole.

The Greek men, women, and collectively all have a higher average GPA than the full student body in each category. The all male GPA at Villanova University is a 2.91 with the Greek males scoring a 2.97. The all-female GPA is a 3.09 with their Greek female counterparts scoring a tremendous 3.29! This together puts the full university GPA at an average of 2.93 and the Greek Life average at 3.13. The two highest fraternities in terms of average GPA are Delta Tau Delta with a GPA of 3.22 and Beta Theta Pi with a GPA of 3.17. On the other side, the two highest sororities in terms of GPA are Delta Gamma with a GPA of 3.67 and Alpha Phi with a GPA of 3.32.
