“Discover
the Wildcat Within…Let the Experience Begin”
The class of 2007 prepares for the new journey ahead

On
August 24, the class of 2007 united for the first time at Villanova as
they began the New Student Orientation Program. The four-day program was
designed to reduce the stress that is normally associated with this transitional
period and to offer a glimpse of the academic communal, spiritual and
social life at Villanova.
Opening day of Orientation included a welcoming address for parents and
students, and a welcoming Mass celebrated by the Rev. Edmund J. Dobbin,
O.S.A., University president. In the days following, students remained
in assigned groups led by upper-class Orientation counselors, where they
participated in a series of programs, presentations and activities. Throughout
the program, academic deans, faculty, students and Student Life administrators
met formally and informally with the new students to answer questions,
address concerns and highlight a wide variety of services and activities
available at Villanova.
The Orientation Committee hopes that by the end of the program, all incoming
students realize that they are valued members of the Villanova community.
They also hope that all students understand this year’s theme, “Discover
the Wildcat within…Let the experience begin.” The Steering
Committee created this theme in hopes to prepare new students for the
spirit of Villanova, the Wildcat, to become an increasingly
