  Two Graduates Join the University Board of Trustees

Catherine M. Keating Elected to the University Board of Trustees
At the Dec. 9 meeting of the University Board of Trustees, Catherine M. Keating ’84 was unanimously elected to the Board for a five-year term. Keating, who graduated from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a degree in English, serves as the Global Head of Wealth Advisory and Fiduciary Services at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in Philadelphia, Pa., a unit of J.P. Morgan Chase that assists the wealthiest individuals and families with more than $320 billion of assets under management.

Following her graduation from the University, Keating received her LJD from the University of Virginia. A prolific author and frequent lecturer on wealth planning issues, Keating is also an adjunct member of the faculty of the University if Pennsylvania Law School, where she teaches federal estate and gift tax and estate planning courses.

Keating’s term on the Board began Jan. 1, 2004, and will end on Dec. 31, 2008.

Keating was named one of the country’s top financial advisors by Worth magazine in 2001 and 2002. She resides in Bryn Mawr, Pa., with her husband, James M. Keating Jr. ’84, EGR.

William M. Gibson Sr. ‘66 Joins the Board of Trustees
At its meeting on Feb. 10, the University Board of Trustees unanimously elected William M. Gibson Sr. ’66 to a five-year term. Gibson, the retired chairman of Manugistics Group, Inc., is now managing partner of The Albermarle Group, a privately-held investment firm, in Villanova, Pa.

Gibson graduated with a degree in Economics from the College of Commerce and Finance. In 1979, he completed the executive education program at the Harvard Business School. Currently, Gibson is a member of the Steering and Leadership Gifts committees for Transforming Minds and Hearts: The Campaign for Villanova.

From 1967 to 1975, Gibson held various sales and marketing positions with IBM in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. For six years, from 1975 to 1981, he served as Vice President of Chase Econometrics/Interactive Data Corporation in Waltham, Mass. He later joined Scientific Time Sharing Corporation, Inc., as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 1982, and then was named President and Chief Executive Officer and served in that capacity until 1986.

In 1986, Scientific Time Sharing Corporation, Inc., was acquired by Manugistics Group, Inc., and Gibson was named President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of Manugistics. He stepped down as President and CEO in April 1999 but continued as Chairman, retiring from that post Feb. 28, 2001. Since his retirement, Gibson has served as Managing Partner of The Albermarle Group.

Gibson lives in Villanova, Pa., with his wife, Nadine. They have two children, William and Caroline P. (’95 A&S).
