Villanova Alumni, Parents and Friends Gather in Palm Beach
Dinner and Golf Highlight Second Annual Florida Event

Alumni, parents, and friends gathered in Palm Beach, Fla., on February 19 and 20 to enjoy the warm weather and show their support for Villanova University as it nears the public phase of Transforming Minds and Hearts: The Campaign for Villanova. The second annual two-day event was hosted by Shirley and James C. Curvy ’57 at the historic Breakers Hotel.

“Shirley and I are very pleased to host this event on behalf of Villanova,” said Curvy, vice chairman of The Campaign, co-chairman of the Leadership Gifts Committee, and a University trustee. “It’s a great opportunity for people to renew old friendships and create new ones while supporting the University and its programs.”

On Thursday, guests enjoyed cocktails on the hotel’s croquet court and then moved inside for dinner. The evening also featured musical entertainment provided by accomplished pianist and Steinway Artist, Joe Augustine, whose musical selections delighted the audience, many of whom remembered his past performances at Villanova functions.

The two-day event culminated on Friday with lunch and golf at nearby Breakers West Golf and Country Club. In all, nearly 40 alumni, parents, and friends took part in the various activities over the two days, representing a significant increase over last year’s attendance.

“Events like this play an important role in strengthening the Villanova community and building support for its initiatives,” said Rev. Edmund J. Dobbin, O.S.A. ’58, University president. “We are grateful to Jim and Shirley for generously hosting such a great group of alumni, parents, and friends, and look forward to making this one of the most popular events on the Villanova calendar each year.”
