Herb Rammrath ’57 Makes $1.5 Million Commitment to Support International Business Program

The Rev. Edmund J. Dobbin, O.S.A. ’58, University president, announced that Villanova has received a $1.5 Million commitment by Herb Rammrath ’57 A&S in support of its anticipated fundraising effort, Transforming Minds and Hearts: The Campaign for Villanova. Funds from the commitment will create an endowed faculty chair and establish an endowed scholarship fund in the International Business program in the College of Commerce and Finance.

“Herb’s generous commitment comes at a time of exciting change within Villanova’s business program,” commented Fr. Dobbin. “These new resources will have an immediate impact on the International Business curriculum, while enhancing the growing national reputation of the College of Commerce and Finance.”

Throughout his career, Rammrath has distinguished himself with a demonstrated record of global accomplishment in business.  He is retired President of GE Plastics-Pacific, the world’s leading supplier of engineering plastics, and is currently Chairman of the United Plastics Group, a leading global plastics molding company.  Rammrath’s diverse professional experience has made him a valued proponent of the College’s International Business program.

With his commitment to support The Campaign, Rammrath will establish an endowed faculty chair in the International Business program. The endowed chair will be used to attract a leading expert in the field to develop curricula, teach both undergraduate and graduate level courses and actively network to foster relationships with global businesses to enhance employment and internship opportunities for Villanova students.

Rammrath’s commitment will also establish an endowed scholarship fund that will supplement the costs of tuition for undergraduate students pursuing a degree in International Business who demonstrate both academic achievement and financial need. Such scholarship resources enable the University and the College to reward its best and brightest students while creating opportunities for leadership.

“Herb’s support of the International Business program provides important resources that will benefit the College and the University,” noted Gerald S.J. Cassidy, Esq. ’63, chairman of The Campaign for Villanova. “This commitment presents Villanova students with unique opportunities for learning that will enhance their educational experience.”

Rammrath is a lifetime member in Villanova’s President’s Forum and in 1992 recipient of the University’s Alumni Medal.  He currently serves on The Leadership Gifts Committee for The Campaign for Villanova, where he works to identify and solicit commitments at the highest level to support strategic Campaign priorities.
