Doctoral candidate in philosophy wins Fulbright grant for study in Leuven, Belgium

Michael Brogan, a Ph.D. candidate and Jacob K. Javits Fellow in the Department of Philosophy at Villanova University, has been awarded a Fulbright Grant for graduate study at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Leuven, Belgium for the 2003-2004academic year. During his stay in Leuven, he plans to conduct dissertation research in phenomenology at the Husserl Archives housed at the university's Institute for Philosophy.

In 1997, Brogan received his bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, Pa., where he majored in religion and minored in philosophy. In 2001, he was awarded as master’s degree in philosophy from Villanova. Brogan’s areas of specialization are 20th Century continental philosophy and ethics.

In addition to his Fulbright and Javits fellowships, Brogan was awarded the Jesse J. Holmes Prize in Religion in 1997. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in the same year.
