Construction is underway and right on schedule
for the completion of Bartley Hall. After the completion of the new
section of the building over the summer, the building is expected to be
in full use by fall 2001.
"Renovation is on track," said John
Gallen, executive director of Facilities Management. "We will open
for classes in the fall."
Currently classes are being held in the new
section of the building, which contains six new classrooms, each with a
capacity to hold more than 60 students. All of the desks provide
connections for students’ laptops, as well as internet access. Four
department offices are also completed in the new section, including
marketing, economics, finance and accounting. In addition, the entrance
to the Bartley Café, renamed "The Exchange" is now open, and
the café is up and running.
Work on the second phase of construction, the
renovation of the old building, originally built in 1956 will continue
through the spring, with an anticipated completion over summer 2001.
"We’re adding a lot of faculty offices,
almost all of the classrooms will be laptop compatible," said
Gallen. "It’ll be a realigning of the building for the mission as
seen by Dean Thomas F. Monahan."
Further plans for the
renovations include a revamping of the former classrooms, and a second
distance learning center.
