Reunion 2001
Planning for Reunion 2001 is already well
underway. This year’s event will take place from June 1 through 3,
beginning with several activities, including the Annual Golf Outing,
Engineering Alumni Society Awards Banquet and the White and Blue
Rendezvous, which will feature music this year, in addition to the
buffet dinner.
The 2001 reunion will operate as a quinquennial
celebration, for classes celebrating major reunions from five to 50
years. All alumni are invited to attend.
"Any class is welcome to come," said
Christine Denuel of Alumni Affairs.
This year’s Half-Century Society Event will
honor the class of 1951. Members of the class will receive a
Half-Century Society Medal during the induction ceremony on June 2.
"Attendance has increased every
year," said Denuel. "Even with their busy schedules alumni are
coming back to see old classmates."
Other highlights of the weekend will include a
trolley tour of campus, led by members of the Blue Key Society, vigil
Mass and the class reception and dinner dance, held in the Pavilion.
Accommodations for returning alumni will be in the Conference Center and
the West Campus apartments.
Recipients of the St. Thomas of
Villanova Alumni Medal, as well as the Young Alumni Medal will also be
honored at the reunion. Previous winners include Denise Devine ’77,
Gen. Paul X. Kelley ’50, Edward Pinckney ’85 and Connecticut Gov.
John Rowland ‘79. Young Alumni recipients include Anthony Granese ’89
and Maria Bello ‘89.
